Research ideas find their researchers.
Nova Helix Research links people with a research question to the researchers who can help answer it — wherever they are. We're an independent, remote-first collective building rigorous collaborations from the ground up.
Good research questions are common. Finding the right people to work on them is not. Nova Helix closes that gap.
Leads come from anywhere
A research lead can be a question, a dataset, or an early hypothesis — submitted by anyone with something worth investigating.
Researchers choose their orbit
Researchers browse open leads in their field and join the ones they're equipped to move forward, regardless of institution or geography.
Fully remote, by design
No office, no home country — just the collaboration. It's how we work across 25+ countries without asking anyone to relocate.
One lead. An orbit of collaborators.
Every project starts the same way: a lead at the center, and researchers who attach themselves to it one by one.
A lead is proposed
Submitted with the question, what's known so far, and what kind of expertise it needs.
Researchers join
Matched by field and availability, researchers opt in — usually a small team, not a crowd.
The paper takes shape
The team works remotely and asynchronously toward a submission-ready manuscript.
Papers, in motion right now
We're a young collective — nothing is published yet, and we'd rather be honest about that than pretend otherwise.

Small on paper, wide on the map
Bring a question, or bring your expertise.
Whichever side of the orbit you're on, it starts with an account. We're building this collective one collaboration at a time.

What we collect, why we collect it, who sees it, and the choices you have. Plain language, no tricks.
1. Who we are
"Nova Helix Research", "we", "us" and "our" means the independent collective that runs this website and the research collaboration platform on it. You can reach us at any time at novahelix.contact@gmail.com.
2. What we collect
| When | What we collect |
|---|---|
| You create an account | First and last name, email address, password (stored securely hashed by our authentication provider, never in plain text), country. |
| You fill in your profile | Field of research, short bio, LinkedIn link, profile photo. All optional. |
| You apply to join a paper | The application text you write (experience, publications, skills, availability) and your phone number. |
| You take a course | Enrollment, lesson progress, quiz interaction, certificates issued to you. |
| You pay for a course | Payment is handled by Stripe on its own checkout page. We never see or store your card details; we only record that a payment was made. |
| You contact us or fill in a Google Form | Whatever you choose to send us (for example when proposing a research lead or asking to join as a researcher). |
| You simply browse | Basic technical data your browser sends (such as IP address and device type) is processed by our hosting and infrastructure providers to deliver the site and keep it secure. |
3. How we use it
- To run your account and let you log in.
- To list researchers, research leads and board members on the public pages.
- To pass your paper applications to the research lead of that paper, and to email you when you are accepted.
- To run courses, track progress and issue certificates.
- To email you about things you asked for or that directly concern your account or applications. We do not send marketing emails.
- To keep the platform secure and fix problems.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising or profiling.
4. What is public and what is private
Public: if you are listed as a researcher or research lead (or are a board member), your name, photo, country, field, bio, LinkedIn link and the papers you work on appear on the website for anyone to see. You control most of these details from your profile page and can leave optional ones empty.
Private: your email address, phone number, application text, course progress and payment status are not shown publicly. Your application text and phone number are visible only to the research lead of the paper you applied to and to the Nova Helix administrators.
5. Who we share data with
We use a small number of service providers to operate the platform. They process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication and file storage (profile photos, paper files, certificates).
- Netlify — website hosting.
- Google — Google Forms (proposal and researcher sign-up forms), Gmail (sending notification emails) and Google Fonts (page fonts).
- Stripe — payment processing for paid courses.
- jsDelivr — delivers a code library the site needs to run.
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our members.
6. International transfers
Our members work from many countries and our providers operate globally, so your information may be processed outside the country where you live. Where required, we rely on the safeguards offered by our providers, such as standard contractual clauses.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account and profile for as long as your account exists. Application messages are kept while the related paper is active and for a reasonable period afterwards. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile and personal data, except where we are required to keep something by law (for example payment records held by Stripe).
8. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK), you may have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- correct it — you can edit most of it yourself on your profile page;
- delete it, or restrict or object to how we use it;
- receive a copy of it in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent;
- complain to your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email us at novahelix.contact@gmail.com. We will answer within a reasonable time, normally within 30 days. We may need to verify your identity first.
9. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections, passwords are hashed, and access to private information is limited by account role. No online service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password.
10. Cookies and local storage
We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser stores a login session (in local storage) so you stay signed in; that is strictly necessary for the platform to work. Third-party services you use through us, such as Stripe checkout or Google Forms, may set their own cookies under their own policies.
11. Children
The platform is intended for people aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from younger children. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let account holders know. Continued use of the platform after a change means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
Questions or requests about your data: novahelix.contact@gmail.com, or use the Contact page.
